Welcome to the eighth installment of Slow Liz’s 2014 Slow Cooker Challenge!
Recipe: Little Kitchen Big Bites – Easy Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes
Wifey gave me a 5 out of 5 on this meal!! Can you believe it?!? She loved it! And I’m so glad, because I really like this blog. It may become a staple in my slow cooker challenge.
Despite liking the blog, one of the ingredients in this recipe had to go. If you check out the rules of Slow Liz’s 2014 Slow Cooker Challenge, you will see I have one rule – NO PORK! So the ground beef and sausage got switched out for a healthier option of ground turkey. I recently learned I have high cholesterol. I blame butter. And genetics. And Ice Cream.
Other than the meat switcheroo, I followed the recipe… sorta. Due to a bout of laziness, I guesstimated the spices. I even found this amazing kit of pre chopped onions, garlic, and shallots. So I really didn’t do much. Perhaps this is why it turned out so good?
Wifey got home a bit late, but dinner was waiting for her and we had delicious sloppy joes. And applesauce that she had slow cooked a few days ago.
And they were very sloppy (or maybe its was me that was sloppy):
Next installment of Slow Liz’s 2014 Slow Cooker Challenge will feature my first breakfast!
